A chance

How many times would a person got a chance, either intentionally given by someone else or deliberately grabbing for it?

Due to the constant begging and promises plus assurance willed by both the parents and the boy himself, I finally gave the green light to accepting him to our homeschooling department. I have rejected more than a handful since this private schooling began, and thought perhaps I should give this one a chance to turn over a new leaf.

To my dismay, barely three weeks have passed and he has been absent for almost seven days in total. Reasons? First, he fell off the bike. Second, he was complaining about a bad stomachache. Third, he just disappeared! Senza any reason.

How many people get to live to seventeen years old? How many teenagers idle their life away, drifting aimlessly in this ever-changing world, this increasingly competitive society? How many teenagers die without even realising death has already occupied them?

I wonder if some youngsters nowadays really think that they could continue to survive like parasites, depending on their parents or grandparents, their so-called friends ? Maybe they think they could. When  one is young, they feel vibrant and energetic! No worries, no pains, no pressures... To them , they've got the whole world beneath their feet. Their motto:- Live happily on a daily basis.

Have I made a wrong decision?
